Medieval boots and medieval shoes for ladies and gentlemen - the historical footwear
Classic medieval boots and medieval shoes for ladies and gentlemen are e.g. turnshoes or also turn-sewn shoes or the tied shoe for peasants. In the Middle Ages, turn-shoes were
widespread among the upper social classes in northern Europe. Footwear
of poor people is not so well researched. But they were not always
barefoot, there was still the good old wooden shoe and a selection of tied shoes.
In the High Middle Ages also pointed medieval shoes and medieval
boots were often worn. Here it came also to the development of the Crakow or Poulaine by oriental influences.
But also strap shoes or clasp shoes became more and more popular with
the nobles. Both man and woman wore these fine slippers. With the 13th
century and the development of various types of fasteners for lacing,
buttoning or slipping in, also boots developed. With the Renaissance it came gradually to the development of the cuff boots or cavalier boots as they were worn by cavalrymen. We still see them on every picture of a typical sailor as pirate boots.
Of course, we also have shoes that are suitable as Viking boots. And if
you are looking for Roman shoes, you will find the famous Roman sandals
here.
Most of our shoes are made of real leather. Leather shoes as medieval
shoes are a must for many historically inspired characters. They "age"
the most elegantly and with good care last very long. From clasp shoes to lace-up boots you will find various historical shoes at our onlineshop.
