Historical shoes hardly meet our modern standards even in the best case. Especially smooth leather soles (mostly the rule) and lack of reinforcements e.g. at the heels take some getting used to. During the Middle Ages, most types of turn shoes were not designed for longevity. This is evidenced by various finds of garbage dumps, etc. Therefore, we offer you medieval shoes inspired by historical models but adapted to modern needs.
Medieval Boots and Shoes for Ladies and Gentlemen - Historical Footwear
Classic medieval boots and medieval shoes for ladies and gentlemen include turnshoes or reversely stitched shoes or the bundschuh. turnshoes were widely used in northern Europe during the Middle Ages. Poor people also didn't necessarily go barefoot. Wooden shoes and "bundschuhe" were widespread, but simple people also used turning shoes, although not in the same quality or with elaborate decoration as did the upper classes.
In the late Middle Ages, especially the upper class liked to wear pointed medieval shoes and boots. This also led to the development of the poulaine through oriental influences.
