Flintstockpistols in their early form already came up in 16th century. But only just in the early 17th century they started to get really efficient. Their system was fairly easy: A flintstone, drilled to a cock hits a metal frizzen and ignites sparks to fuze the propelling charge for the bullet.

This replica weapon has a distinctive pirate look with its skull-symbol on the handle. The Manufacturer seems to be french, as the engraved "Manufactures Snt. Etienne" gives it away.
