The Paladin in Larp

The Paladin is a warrior for the justice of light and good in the world. He is a believer and worships a deity who stands for all his virtues. A Paladin is a good fighter and usually dressed in heavy armour to face his enemies with courage and strength. So he is a knight or cleric of faith.

What do I have to consider as a Larp Paladin?

Playing a paladin requires some larp experience, because he is a knight of faith and knights are of good standing and follow a certain etiquette. In addition, they usually have a entourage that consists of at least one squire or group of squires that the Paladin leads in battle. In other words, a Paladin is a typical leader character in Larp. Playing this convincingly will be difficult, if not impossible, for beginners. To follow the path of a Paladin, it makes sense to start „small“. For example, as a squire or novice following such a paladin. This way you learn from your master what it means to be a real Paladin and you can master difficult trials, and sometimes after years of training you can become a real Paladin yourself, whom even young fighters with great ambitions follow into battle. Paladins are sometimes so powerful and firm in their belief that they can cast magic. This ranges from healing spells to powerful destruction spells against the undead.

The Paladin – A Warrior of Light

Another factor that speaks in favor of working your way up to paladin in the larp is that a paladin is a real warrior. And by this we mean that he wears heavy armour for days on end and is often to be found on the most demanding front lines in battle. A beginner in combat will not last in this position for long, as his character will not survive for long, or in the worst case, put himself and others in danger.

On top of that, a paladin is a fanatical believer. He burns so much for his faith that he would die for it and will fight contrary beliefs with everything he has. Historically one could say that Paladins are most comparable to crusaders of the Middle Ages. This strong faith will trigger many conflicts with other groups at a Larp, which can bring a lot of tension, but can quickly overwhelm a beginner.

A lot of fun in larp lies in character development and following a Paladin’s path will surely bring you much more joy than simply buying Paladin armor, which you cannot fill out at all due to lack of experience.

For all larpers who have already reached the status to embody a Paladin, we at Andracor have the right armour and the suitable weapons.
