A belt for the poorest of the poor, or the humble monk....

No. 615004
Length: 250 cm

  • Material: Flax
  • Producer: Andracor Costumes

Perhaps the simplest belt for tying a robe is the hemp rope. Its simplicity indicates that its wearer leads a life far removed from wealth or even asceticism. Monks in the Middle Ages, and even today, wore such a rope as a belt to renounce worldly values. It was worn over the monk's habit to fasten it at the hips. Incidentally, Franciscan monks had three knots on this rope. The three knots stand for the three vows: poverty, chastity and obedience.

In Larp, this simple belt can also be worn by simple peasants, beggars, druids or other mages who are very close to nature. The rope can also be useful for monster hunters to tie up prey.
