For many people,
medieval archery in epic battles is part of the fascination of the
Larp hobby. In order to develop a feeling for traditional archery that is as genuine as possible, you need something different than a
modern sports bow. But what can be understood by a
medieval bow? A Larp bow does not necessarily have to be a
wooden bow and usually has traction limitations. However, many
Larp archers still want to buy a wooden bow because they fit the character concept much better. Typical medieval bows are the
longbow and the
short bow, both forms are typical for
medieval archery although both forms were developed earlier. The
horse bow and the
recurve bow were invented and used by
oriental & asian horse riders such as the Mongols and Saracens.

If you want to buy a medieval bow, you should make the choice depending on the
character that you are going to portrait. A recurve bow, for example, fits perfectly as an
elven bow, because it represents a high level of development of a medieval bow. In addition it is optically very suitable by its curved form. We have noble Recurve bows made of wood, which will please every

Wooden bow versus sports bow - The differences in medieval archery
On
medieval markets or in the Larp wooden bows not only look good. They also contribute to the feeling of medieval archery, as it does not have the modern benefits of a sports bow. Our wooden bows have no aiming aids. In the
Fantasy Larp things are kept quite open minded. But still sports bows seem mostly misplaced here.
Furthermore there is Arrow Tag. A game which is played with Larp arrows, meaning padded arrows. Here one uses rather modern sport bows made of fiberglass.

We are often asked about a "Larp bow". Strictly speaking, there are no special Larp bows. All our bows can also be used outside this hobby. The only two aspects that make a bow a Larp bow is: its tensile strength, which usually must not exceed 25-30# and what kind of arrow you use.
Medieval bows are used in the Larp for many different character concepts. A player who wants to represent a Ranger might have the choice between a longbow or a short bow, because there are no clear expectations to be matched. However, most would expect a longbow from a longbow shooter or a riding bow from a steppe warrior. Larp arrows & wooden arrows in our bow shop
The big difference between archery in live role-playing and real archery, whether sportive or medieval, are the Larp arrows used by the shooter.
In order not to injure the players, the arrows that are used in the Larp have to have special safety heads made of padding material. These arrows are called padded arrows, Larp arrows or IDV arrows. Whereby IDV refers to a well-known manufacturer.
However, we also offer excellent wooden arrows so-called target arrows in different variations for sport archery with medieval flair and excellent value for money! These wooden arrows are made of high-quality materials and very well processed.
