End times Larp & Post-Apocalyptic Larp - When the world goes down the gutter!

The End Times, Armageddon or Apocalypse is a genre in pop culture that takes place in a future that is not to far away from now and shows an earth that is doomed to collapse. The survivors of a global catastrophe try to fight for the few remaining resources of the planet. In an apocalyptic scenario there is usually no functioning justice system active, i.e. the law of the fittest and the weapon usually rules these worlds. Marauding gangs, devastating diseases, radiation of the planet, etc. can turn an End Times Larp into a true survival trip that demands a lot from a participant. That's why the game mode Survival Con is often referred to as End Times Larp or Post-Apocalyptic Larp. The Post-Apocalypse Larp - "And then came the great war..."

In this scenario, the world is usually destroyed by a big war and has become permanently difficult to live in. For example, it can be contaminated by nuclear radiation. Here remaining humans fight over territory and resources. A special form is the Retrocalypse Larp, it tells an alternative story, similar to Steampunk Larp scenarios. A well-known retrocalypse is the world of the computer game Fallout. This had a lot of influence on End Time Larp events. The story is usually as follows: Already in the 50s there was a massive escalation of the cold war and around the 2000’s the earth is contaminated and vast wasteland. As a result, weapon technologies and robotics are far advanced, but everyday technology and fashion are still at the level of the 50s. The Mad Max or Matrix trilogies, for example, as classic end-time dystopias, would be another formative example from the cinema.
 

The Zombie Apocalypse Larp - A virus turns people into monsters

A zombie larp plays the well-known scenario of a zombie apocalypse like Larp players imagine it. Mostly out of nowhere (or at least nobody knows for sure) a virus or plague develops, which resurrects the dead or turns mankind into will-less, human flesh eating monsters. Few survivors of this zombie outbreak try to survive after the collapse of civilization. Again, there are often rival gangs working against each other as if the zombies weren't bad enough already. Here one speaks actually always of a Survival Con or Survival Larp. The idea of a Zombie Larp is that the zombies will catch you at some point and you mutate into zombies yourself.
